What is it we are talking about when we hear about the field of presence in a dance room?
What are we referencing when we hear about a dancer or a teaching being infused with presence?
How does it manifest in teaching a Soul Motion session?
From my experience as dancer and teacher, I view presence as an open passage of energy information that envelops and surrounds the dancer in a current of awakened movement moments. It is a perspective that lands the dancer in a flow of present moment, moving and shifting effortlessly from gesture to gesture along a continuum of dispassion.
There is nothing sticky going on here, no clinging on to, no pushing away, no casting for a desired outcome, no judgment about actions of self or other.
Everything and everybody is welcome.
The dance and dancer are imbued with confidence, ease, and joyful expectancy.
There is an experience of unity experienced between dancer and dance, dance and environment, environment and sound, sound and silence, silence and still point, still point and motion, and between you and other.
We dance in an alive awake field, a field flowing with energy and information, waves of turbulence, and streams of silence and stillness. There is an orchestra of vibrational music being created moment to moment, movement to movement.
It is in this field we are embraced with presence, observant to variations that transpire in the field of dance. Force, energy, time, shape, and level changes, all echo their unique signature in this sound of dance.
It is this field of presence that spews forth attention to everything and everyone, precision in perception, and clarity of response.
It is here that dancers become the teaching, casting inquiries and fielding responses in the ever present exchange between dancers and the field of presence.
