SPIRITUAL PRACTICE AS MOVEMENT
Repeatedly it speaks, that the key to understanding the worth of Soul Motion™ is to keep our eye on the ordinary. What will craft this practice, and its value, is to appreciate that nothing unusual or exceptional is occurring. Translations from the dance room that make sense to the practitioner and that are natural will translate to the living room. This is where the excitement exists.
The tools we add to our kit are the ones which emerge from within, it is a calling forth that appears, rather than a calling for. There is no addition from the outside that goes on here. We are not looking for the missing piece of the puzzle. You know the one that if we could only discover and fit into our scheme, would bring us eternal joy, happiness, and purpose. We are not asking anyone to learn the latest technique or an original system to memorize and then to call upon those rules when particular situations arise. We are suggesting that we all return to the basics and embrace that which is ever present, ever precise, and ever potent; To recognize “what is”.
We look to Breath, Heartbeat, the Pause, the multi-dimensional viewpoints expressed in dancing the Orbit, the Witness of events who contains a dispassionate view of all she sees. This becomes the foundation for the Soul in Motion, in and out of the dance room. Finally, we look to our position in relationship to self, other, one another, and the One Presence, which moves through all.
These principals are culled from noticing ordinary signs and wonders that are everywhere. We are being called upon in our own time and place to lay the foundation and to do the preparatory work. Whether it is personal counseling, service and volunteer time donated to others’, or doing our best in any family or work situation to step up and out of our own narrow self-interest.
