Soul Motion: Self-Empowerment
The reminder "we are enough" prevails throughout Soul Motion, and students are invited to sustain this attitude through the choices they make during the dance. In the body choir that is our unified dance, we learn that each has a role to play in the ultimate expression. This role includes reciprocal respect and appreciation for the unique perfection of each person within the diversity of the group, regardless of experience.

So here we are in the practice of centering. We refer to this as standing in Temenos a word denoting a sacred enclosure used by ancient Greek Warriors to clear and transform before re-joining the general society. I have also used the Native American phrase of Standing in the Hoop to indicate that centered secure point or reference to all that is swirling and curling around in our everyday dance.

It is that place where you and I can hold our ground regardless of what is occurring or being said around us. It is the place within where truth resides and no amount of facts spewing forth from loose gums can shake us. It is the place where we dance from that has a clear and consistent rhythm, no matter the external beat. It is our SONG, the melody we have been infused with and the one which identifies us from all the rest. It is our signature piece.

Do you know your Song? Do you spend time daily practicing its melody? Make the INQUIRY daily!

As you stand in the Temenos visualize the radiation of life force outward in the six directions and consider these various states of consciousness. Before me; that which is open to EXPERIMENT. Behind me: that which has been EXPERIENCED. Beside me: That place where I ENGAGE my brothers and sisters on the worldly path. Above me: That place of EXALTATION. Below me: The ground of EARTH Consciousness.

I have found these directions useful in assisting my walk in the world. These directions and their assigned values keep me clear and consistent in my dealings in the everyday dance. I have devised simple gestures that I employ to bring home the individual values of each direction and can be seen standing in line at my local bank branch centering myself.

I offer these hints to you to bring your own language and gesture to. Try them if you are feeling a bit drowsy and defeated concerning your power, your song. It is a wonderful Temenos Dance to do in any Pause.

Trusting that this New Year will continue to unfold for each of us and that unfolding bring us closer and closer to the Song of Spirit singing throughout ALL Things.

Be well, vinn
