Standing in the center of The Hoop is a peaceful and powerful place to occupy. The ground is shifting and sifting among the waters of Creativity and each of us has the oars to navigate through all kinds of turbulence.
Each of us stands down with roots securing our footing while our crown floats among the spacious sky. These roots are nourished and strengthened by our daily habits, thoughts, and actions. The ever-present sky is sheltering us and providing cover for all the mis-steps, mis-cues, and general tripping that each day seems to bring. The sky will shelter ALL who are below. No litmus tests of any kind need be submitted. Unearned Merit!
So, the oars to navigate are Gratitude and Forgiveness. No matter how terrible the experience or how miserably I conduct myself; there is a space of forgiveness and a place to look for what there is to be thankful for. When I speak unkindly about someone, I realize that I have the capacity for contraction and exclusion and I am grateful for this moment to bring that behavior toward the light of Compassion. I can dance the moment of reconcilation and remain still in the mystery of the next unfolding.
This ongoing movement piece I dance is filled with dark and unknown. Today I embrace the depths of my mis-steps and celebrate my human being. Today I acknowledge that doing my best is an unsure track that continues to have flexible borders. What is my best at any given moment? What cues do I look for as I wonder in awe of the banquet of beauty all around? What Route do I wish to take on a daily basis to foster and strengthen social justice? What kind of Community Dance do I engage in?
