Soul Motion: Movement Meditation
Soul Motion encourages seeing with the mystic's heart and eyes, a way of penetrating to the invisible core to things; stillness in motion, motion in stillness; the silent song. Using embodied presence and breath awareness to focus attention and hone space, students learn to become increasingly conscious of their whole being, whether in motion or stillness.

Soul Motion dancers bring together mindful intention with an approachable expression. They hone skills to practice moving within curves and spirals. They travel on paths, which move from an expansive intimate channel toward a chaotic immense field as they radiate from heart and hara.

When we dance rigidity mind in place of movement moment, we defer the life that is moving toward our living body.

In its’ place we substitute conditions and attachments to beliefs.

We dance formula instead of freedom.

We dance history while overlooking the mystery that surrounds.

We dance story rather than remaining available and open to surprise.

Recently at Madrona Mind Body in Pt.Townsend there was a workshop with the fabulous Ruth Zapora and her Action Theater. I was introduced to this work many years ago through those who were studying with her. After being with Ruth this past week I realize just how influenced I have been from these teachings, and how they continue to inform present day Soul Motion pedagogy.
